Morning Coffee / Afternoon Tea

05 Mar

Please bear with me for the rest of this week if my response to comments is slow. As an OSU master gardener I am involved with a very large home and garden show that is requiring a lot of my time this week. Thank you for your understanding.

To fear the Lord means to me, having respect for Him, trusting Him and being obedient to Him. I know there will be consequences if we do not and perhaps that could cause us to have an unhealthy fear of his wrath and scared by it, but I believe we do not have to have that unhealthy physical fear, be scared, if you will. I liken it to the respect and fear we would have for a loving parent who only wants what is best for us. Not a scary thing at all.

Elaine you have stated it very well. Thank you. I can’t comment much because I am deep in physical work. Great comment.

Sorry Levi, it’s been a busy morning. To me it’s reverential fear like one would have for an earthly father. We all deal with the flesh so we need corrective influences else we would sink deeper and deeper. Case in point, highway 9898 is a lonely stretch posted at 55, if we knew no police were on the road the temptation would be to speed. What if we saw someone coming at us flashing their lights? Would we slow down? Most likely so. We need to have an understanding that God is watching to help us stay within the posted speed limit, spiritually speaking. With this kind of knowledge wisdom will follow.

I whole heartedly agree with all you said too Dennis. I know many who feel like God is just waiting for us to sin so that He can get us. I think fear also has the “awe” factor to it. I too am ankle deep In mulch. It’s going to be a long week. Thanks for being there.
