Last night I was a proud grandpa (Poppie). Not that I am not everyday. We were happy to witness our graduates, granddaughter Bethany, and grandson Matthew from the same local high school. It is so hard to believe that this is possible. Robert, our oldest grandchild, finished school 2 years ago. Last evening, numbers 2 and 3 walked the stage to receive their diploma. Wow!!! My how the years have flown by.
This little rolled up piece of paper marks the culmination of their longest achievement to date in their young lives, but Lord willing, it is only the beginning, I have discovered in my 61 years that there are many chapters in life. Their young lives are in the early pages at the front of the book.
Looking back, I see the hand of God is on each page of a believers life, and continues till he meets Him face to face. David penned Psalm 37 with these trustworthy words:
“The steps of a man are established by the LORD,
when he delights in His way;
though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong,
for the LORD upholds his hand”. (Vs 23-24)
In Hannah’s prayer in I Samuel 2 we find a companion verse:
“He will guard the feet of His faithful ones,
but the wicked shall be cut off in darkness,
for not by might shall a man prevail”. (Vs.9)
It is to my souls delight that both Bethany, and Matt, have trusted Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. My prayer for them both is they will continue in His Word, grow in His wisdom, and seek to honor the Son of God Who loved them and gave Himself for them. That they will be listeners and followers of their Master.
Your Poppie and whole family are very proud of you both. We look forward to watching you grow in His abundant grace.
Until tomorrow, Lord willing,
