How Spiritually Dead Are We Really ??????

16 Sep

There are three main proofs in Scripture that show us all of mankind are totally depraved. Without a work of God in a person’s life they will never come to Jesus because we are all DEAD spiritually. Dead people have no life to do anything but corrupt even more.

(1) All people by nature are fallen in Adam and have no righteousness in order to be justified and accepted with God – “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one” (Romans 3:10);

(2) Because we are fallen in Adam we cannot work out and establish any righteousness even by our best efforts to obey the law of God – “Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in His sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin” (Romans 3:20); and

(3) Since we were born dead in our trespasses and sins, we do not know, desire, or seek after righteousness God’s way. There is only one way according to Jesus. It is by grace in and through Him alone – “There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one” (Romans 3:11-12).

Since we are a totally fallen people God had a plan to save us from our own depravity; Jesus became the Surety for His people. He made us righteous by His obedience unto death on the cross, and He produces spiritual life within us by the Holy Spirit when we are born again. This means that our salvation is all of His power and grace. What a gift we have been granted!! Grace upon grace.

I hope we all live in awe of His grace every day. Without it, we would all be walking dead people.

Something to think about on this beautiful day.

Shalom, until tomorrow, Lord willing,

    Thank you for another inspiring message. Even though all our sins are forgiven – past, present and future – we need Jesus in our lives on a daily, hourly and minute by minute basis. Praise God for His grace on grace!

      Thanks Kathy. Yes, just because we are totally forgiven doesn’t negate a constant need for Christ. Hope all went well yesterday!!!

    Awesome word. It’s like the movie “Six Sense” where the little boy could see dead people. He did not know or understand why he had this ability and it frightened him… until the psychiatrist, who himself did not know he was dead, came along to help him understand the purpose for his unique ability. If we had the ability to see with our eyes the state of the spiritually dead, how would we react? I am confident we would be frightened for lack of understanding. Would someone come along to help us understand? Praise God for our Savior Jesus Christ! He came to save. He died that we might live. The little boy had a dead psychiatrist to help him. We have a risen Savior. We have the Spirit of the Almighty living God living in us ready to do the will of the Father. When we commit ourselves to His will He allows us to see the state of sinful man and give us understanding that we might help those dead in sin find their way back to Him. Nothing but God’s grace allows us to see the spiritual state of fallen man. Every believer has the ability, but not every believer commits to the will of the Father. I think that is just awesome…but for the grace of God go I.

    Ephesians 2-10 “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.

    But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

    Isn’t our God an awesome God!!!

      SJ, after 50 years of being a believer the grace of God and the amazement of it continues to grow. I think it be so instead of complacent in our faith.

    That is why religion is so insidious because it seeks to give guilty condemned sinners hope in what they and the church does, leaving them dead and hell bound, rather than simple faith in what has been accomplished for them through Christ Jesus our Lord, Who is the only way to the Father. Only the God of glory Who calls those things that are not as if they were, can raise the dead condemned sinner to spiritual life and glory. Hallelujah! He gives us eternal lief!. Who could ever hope to have eternal life by something they have done or accomplished, it is impossible. But God demonstrates His own love towards us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us! Romans 5:8 Praise God for His wonderful grace and love in Christ Jesus our Lord! God bless you:)
