I am reflecting of the past week and wanted to share with you only a couple of the incidents that occurred. These incidents illustrate the how our God works and they may appear as a total surprise to us.
The first incident occurred last Sunday night. I attended the evening service at Calvary Baptist Church in Manhattan. It was my pleasure to hear a Jewish man’s testimony before he was baptized and how he came to see Yeshua as his Messiah and Savior.
I had left the church walking back to my room which is a couple of miles away. I was walking down 7th Ave. between 45th and 46th when a well dressed man in a suit stopped me and asked if we could talk. I was also in dress slacks, sweater, and leather coat with nothing distinguishing me as to what I do. Sam said he just needed to talk to someone and he was impressed to ask me.
My first thought was he was going to ask me for money or something of that nature. This is not what he wanted at all. I found out he was a Jewish man in his mid thirties whose life wasn’t going so well. His occupation as a chef was rocky at the moment, he is raising a 13 year old daughter alone, and he was just down in spirit.
After listening to him, I asked him of his spiritual condition. He admitted that although Jewish, he really didn’t practice anything and gave it very little thought. For 20 minutes I shared the message of God’s love to him expressed to us in and through the Person of Messiah Jesus. He was very receptive and asked questions which I answered. We exchanged contact info and he said he would be happy to communicate with me.
I must admit that my thoughts were not on sharing the Gospel. My eyes were looking a few blocks down the street on Time Square. God had other plans. Paul told us to be ready in season and out of season, always ready to share the hope that is within us.
Seize those opportunities when they are so widely opened.
I will share the 2nd incident in another post.
Shalom, until next time, Lord willing,
